Hunted close to the point of Extinction, The Salvare Foundation will focus on Pangolin hotspots, using heat seek drones to thwart poachers, relaying GPS locations to authorities.

Phataginus tetradactyla or the larger Smutsia temminckii  more commonly known as Pangolins are solitary mammals, meeting a only to produce a litter of one to three offspring that they rise in about 2 years.

 

The scientific classification of the pangolins is.

 

Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Chordata

Class: Mammalia

Clade: Ferae

Clade: Pholidotamorpha

Order: Pholidota

 

Uganda has a large population of wild Pangolins, officially endangered and threatened for meat and  the scales sold to Chinese medicine market. Uganda pangolins are found in the  Kidepo valley National park deforestation also affects them. They are officially one of the most trafficked animals in the world, and unless the culling of them is halted within 20 years they could be extinct.

 

Pangolins are nocturnal animals they have a poor sense of sight where by they use their well developed sense of smell to find insects, they spend most of their days sleeping.
