Giraffa Rothschildi more commonly known as the Rothschilds Giraffe is an African artiodacty mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. It is traditionally considered to be one species, Giraffe camelopardalis, with nine subspecies.

Height: Northern giraffe: 4.6-6.1m

Eats: Acacia,

Gestation period: Northern giraffe: 15months.

Mass: Northern giraffe: 800kg

Speed: 60km/h (maximum 4 print)

Habitats: Savanna, Grassland, woodland.

Uganda has a large population of the Worlds tallest mammals. In Uganda Giraffes can be   in various National parks like Murchison falls, Lake Mburo National park, Semiliki National park and Kidepo valley National park.

In recent years Giraffes in Kidepo Valley National park have come close to extinction only the intervention of both the Ugandan and Kenyan Governments implementing initiatives for more Giraffes  to be relocated to Uganda has numbers improve.

Uganda is now a home to 1650 giraffes still a precariously low number that highlights the need for ongoing monitoring to ensure survival.

Due to continuous habitant encroachment their survival is at risk hence being counted in the endangered species.
