Gorilla beringei more commonly known as the mountain Gorilla is one of the two sub species of the eastern gorilla. It is listed as endangered by the IUCN as of 2018.

Scientific name Gorilla beringei beringe:

Higher classification: Eastern gorilla

Sub species: g.b beringei

Kingdom: Animalia

Order: Primates

Family: Hominidea

The population of mountain gorillas is promising and this is credited to conservation efforts.  Numbers have risen from 620 from 1989,  to 1,004  today and Uganda has half of that population

The mountain gorillas are now endangered and threatened to extinction because of the uncontrolled hunting for food, diseases, habitat loss and the ravages of human conflicts.

Mountain gorillas in Uganda are found in the Gahinga Mountain National park and Bwindi impenetrable National park.

  1. Thank you for another wonderful article. Where else could anyone get that type of information in such an ideal way of writing? I’ve a presentation next week, and I’m on the look for such info.
